Today was an off day, so after a long sleep, we awoke around 10am. It was sunny and warm outside. After eating, writing and morning activities we all decided to drive to our teammate’s apartment, park the car and then bus into the downtown of Gothenburg. Our specific designation was Haga. Haga is a charming area where there are traditional wood buildings and cobbled streets, it is home to 17th-century fortress Skansen Kronan. I am assuming this name is where they get the name for their currency. The area is known for vegan bistros and bakeries known for cinnamon buns. These buns are much different then how we think of them in the USA. They are harder and have a lot less frosting, the frosting is just little flakes of dried sugar. The bus ride was short, and we were there in little time. Walking through the streets we took many pictures and laughed together and with others. We looked like foreign people. After walking around for several hours, we decided on a nice little deli to have Fika at. We had coffee and baked goods. They were amazing. As the weather look as if it was starting to turn, we started to head back to the bus station to head back to our car. In the pouring rain we rode the bus to our car and went inside the Ica shopping center to get groceries for dinner and the next several days. After a long day of walking, it was time to head home. We were planning an early night because tomorrow’s practice was at 700am and to arrive in time to get ready we would need to wake up at 515. After a shower, some conversations with my family at home and a bit of dinner, it was bedtime. I am getting more comfortable, but I will never not miss my family. A wonderful day off and back to work tomorrow.
